Song of Hermes - in a watery cave, with Wild (Draft)

by Angelus Marr/ Squid & The Krakens

about

A song about feeling lost and looking for something. Hermes is the messenger of the Greek gods and has winged sandals. He is also a god himself, representing boundaries, transitions, communication and protector of travellers and poets, amongst others.

lyrics

Oh I went down
To the riverside
Shed my wings,
And then I cried,
"Oh water blue!
In you I dive!
To find the fire
To be alive.
To find the fire
To be alive."

And in the crowds of people,
My soul walks alone,
Now I wander
From place to place
Just looking for my home
Just looking for my home.

And as swam
In the water blue
I fell in,
A dream of you.
Oh sweet lover,
In you I dive,
To find the fire,
To be alive,
To find the fire,
To be alive.

And in the crowds of people,
My soul walks alone,
Now I wander
From place to place
Just looking for my home
Just looking for my home.

(Instrumental)

You held me close,
I threw you far,
Drove the desert,
Crashed the car,
Oh sky so blue!
In you I dive,
To find the fire,
To be alive,
To find the fire,
To be alive.

And in the crowds of people,
My soul walks alone,
Now I wander
From place to place
Just looking for my home
Just looking for my home.

I saw the stars,
And clouds of gold,
But now I'm back,
On this earth so cold,
Oh breath of mine,
In you I dive,
To find the fire,
To be alive,
To find the fire,
To be alive.

And in the crowds of people,
My soul walks alone,
Now I wander
From place to place
Just looking for my home
Just looking for my home.
